Keep These Bugs Out Of Your Home With An Insect Control Treatment

Southern Californians are blessed with good weather year-round. Unfortunately, we aren’t the only ones who benefit. There are dozens of bugs that love to make their home in the Golden State, and many of them find their way into our homes. Not only are these insects disturbing, but some can also cause health problems or even damage our homes! Thankfully, you can eliminate them with insect treatment.

Common House Bugs In California

Spiders

Fear of spiders is widespread, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s terrifying to see one in your home or, heaven forbid, walk through a web! And here in southern California, we get big spiders like tarantulas! Or a black widow whose bite is extremely dangerous. They really belong outdoors – not in your home.

Termites

We probably don’t have to tell you how bad termites are for your home. Thetermites y can damage the structural integrity of not only the walls and roof of your home but also any wooden object in your home – furniture, bookshelves, drawers, etc. With a perimeter pest control application, you can rest assured that any termite who dares cross the threshold will not last long.

Millipedes

Millipedes may travel in large groups, especially during breeding. In the course of following a mate, they may end up migrating into your home, where they don’t belong. While millipedes aren’t poisonous, they are certainly creepy. They belong in your garden, where they can create loads of natural compost.

Centipedes

There are four different kinds of centipedes here in southern California, and while none have the ability to inject venom, their bites can be extremely painful. Generally, they only bite if you try to handle them, but pets or young children are susceptible because they don’t know not to touch the bugs. And because of that warm weather, we get bigger centipedes than the run-of-the-mill house centipede. Tiger centipedes may be as long as 15 cm! Centipedes are creepy enough without the added proportions! And if the creepy factor wasn’t bad enough, they’re incredibly fast when startled.

Ants

Ants can ruin a picnic, but they can do even worse to our homes, especially if they happen to be carpenter ants or fire ants. Carpenter ants burrow into wooden structures like furniture, similar to termites. They don’t actually eat the wood fibers, however. Instead, they use them as a sort of ant highway and build a colony. Obviously, that’s not a good thing for your home or furniture. And then there are fire ants. These bugs are incredibly aggressive if they feel threatened. And they can not only bite but also sting, and in severe cases, this warrants a trip to the ER.

Cockroachescockroach log

Due to the health problems cockroaches cause, they are without a doubt the worst possible bug to have in your home. You’ve probably heard jokes about cockroaches surviving the apocalypse, and unfortunately, it’s true. They are great adapters and survivors, and once roaches establish in your home, it becomes harder to get rid of them. While this isn’t something we like to think about, the reason roaches are so bad is because of their poop. Their droppings can cause or exacerbate asthma, and many people are highly allergic to cockroaches.

What Does Perimeter Pest Control Do

If you’re Googling “pest control near me,” you may be wondering: what exactly will the technician do to stop the bugs? Lawnscape Systems will send a licensed expert first to assess your property. Then we’ll use specialized products to spray a barrier around the foundation of your home. This leaves behind a residue that will kill any bug that comes in contact with it. And the great thing is it continues to work long after we’ve sprayed. To make sure you have uninterrupted coverage, we’ll need to reapply several times throughout the season. In addition, we will let you know of any improvements you can make to discourage bugs from visiting your property. In the meantime, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy a pest-free home.
